Bettors Favouring Willis Over Pickett As NFL Draft Approaches

Willis Favoured To Be First QB Drafted

The 2022 NFL Draft is set to start on Thursday, and as usual, all eyes are on the quarterbacks.

With just days remaining before commissioner Roger Goodell and the Jacksonville Jaguars kick off the draft and finally end a long offseason of hand-wringing and speculation, PointsBet has Malik Willis of Liberty University favoured to be the first quarterback off the board.

However, PointsBet’s odds reflect betting transactions, not NFL experts and analysts who differ on whether Willis or Pitt’s Kenny Pickett will be the first quarterback drafted. Willis, who amassed 40 total touchdowns in his senior year at Liberty, impressed scouts at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine with his keen intellect and impressive physical abilities.

Willis also racked up most of his eye-popping collegiate stats against weaker opponents and struggled when matched up against Power 5 teams. The general consensus among football experts is that while Willis has a higher ceiling than Pickett, he will likely need more time to develop.
