NASCAR returns to Texas for the All-Star Race

NASCAR will take a short break from the Championship with the 2022 All-Star Race taking place this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. The big favorite for the final victory, Kyle Larson, will try to become the fourth driver in NASCAR history with at least three wins at All-Star races. He defeated the competition in 2019 and 2021. The current leader in the Championship, Chase Elliott, won the race in 2020 in Bristol as he remains one of the top contenders for the win this season.

A computer model that has shown a pretty decent accuracy in predicting the outcome of NASCAR events suggests that we can trust Joey Logano despite his high odds. The so-called McClure’s model nailed down some of Larson’s victories on his way to becoming a 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Logano won the All-Star race back in 2016 when he finished second in the Championship.

Other past winners like Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin are less likely to come up with an upset on Sunday, but the Championship has proven to be quite unpredictable this season, implying that anything can practically happen on a single day.
