Houston Rockets sign Corey Brewer

The Houston Rockets have acquired Corey Brewer after completing a three-team trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers.
The Wolves sent the athletic small forward to the Rockets and received shooting guard Troy Daniels from the Rockets and future draft picks.
The Rockets also got Alexey Shved from the Sixers, who in return got injured center Ronny Turiaf from Minnesota. The Sixers also got a 2015 second-round pick and the rights to Ukrainian center Serhiy Lishchuk, who is currently playing for Spanish club Valencia.
To accommodate Brewer and Shved, the Rockets waived Francisco Garcia. Brewer got his wish to be traded to a contender as the Wolves (5-20) continue to languish at the bottom of the Western Conference following injuries to key players Kevin Martin and Ricky Rubio. The 28-year-old averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 24 games for the Wolves this season.
Brewer won two NCAA titles with the University of Florida and spent the first four seasons of his NBA career in Minnesota. He won an NBA title with Dallas in 2010-11 and spent the next two seasons in Denver before returning to Minnesota in 2013-14.
Shved, meanwhile, brings depth to Houston’s backcourt. The Russian guard averaged a career-best 9.9 points and 2.7 assists in 17 games for the Sixers this season.
