Colo-Colo visit Unión Española

The leader of Chile’s Primera División, Colo-Colo, hopes to follow up their impressive win in the Copa Libertadores with a victory against Unión Española, who are only three points behind. The ninth match of the Chilean tournament once again sees the ‘Cacique’ team and the ‘Hispanics’ as main protagonists.

Gustavo Quintero’s Colo-Colo team picked up an historic victory on Thursday night in the Libertadores. It was the first time in 13 years that they won on Brazilian soil after beating Fortaleza 2-1 in the Group F game.

Despite the confidence boost, they arrive at Sunday’s game exhausted after a competitive match. On the other hand, after the defeat on penalties by Antofagasta, Unión Española were forced to direct all their intentions to fight in the local championship. A victory for Colo-Colo leaves them leaders ahead, but if Unión Española win they draw level on points with two other teams in the mix.

The others waiting for a ‘Hispanic’ victory are Cobresal and Ñublense. The ‘Mineros’ will be in a local match with Audax Italiano, while on Sunday, the ‘Diablos Rojos’ will visit Palestino.
