Are Club Querétaro Set to Be Taken Over By NBA Supremo?

Club Querétaro Could Be Acquired By NBA Entrepreneur

Liga MX outfit Club Querétaro are up for sale, and it has been reported that Peter J. Holt, owner of NBA franchise San Antonio Spurs, is interested in completing a buyout.

It has been reported that Holt, who operates the American company Spurs Sports & Entertainment, is interested in taking over the controversy-hit Gallos Blancos, who made international news after crowd violence marred their game against Atlas in March.

As a result of those troubling scenes, Liga MX chiefs have decreed that Club Querétaro must play their home games behind closed doors for a year, and that their supporters – known as the ‘barras’ – will also be banned from attending away games for three years.

The club’s owners have also been barred from running the club, with former ownership firm Grupo Caliente tasked with finding a buyer by the end of 2022.

Holt could be the man for the job if he is willing to part with an estimated $200 million to take control.
