Argentina, Brazil and Mexico Lead the Way in World Cup 2022 Ticket Sales

FIFA Reveals ‘Enormous Demand’ for Argentina World Cup Tickets

FIFA has revealed that games involving Argentina, Brazil and Mexico at World Cup 2022 have led to ‘enormous demand’ from supporters for tickets.

The governing body has confirmed that a mammoth 23.5 million requests came in for tickets to the competition, which will get underway in Qatar in November. And the possibility of watching Lionel Messi in what could be his last World Cup has ensured global interest in Argentina’s games.

Their fixtures against Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Poland in the group stage are amongst the most requested for tickets, alongside the clash between England and the United States as well as the final on December 18.

Where ticket applications outstrip the capacity of the stadiums hosting each game, fans will be entered into a random ballot to determine who is successful.

Some notable media outlets are suggesting that Messi will announce his international retirement after the World Cup – he will be 39 when the 2026 edition of the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico gets underway.
