Gabriel scores the winner as Arsenal maintains a top 4 advantage

Gabriel scores the winner for Arsenal

Arsenal’s Brazilian center-back Gabriel netted a vital winner as Arsenal edged out London rivals West Ham 2-1 in a cagey game at the London Stadium.

With Tottenham able to secure a crucial victory against Leicester earlier in the day the pressure was on the Gunners to win and reclaim 4th spot.

Arsenal took the lead thanks to Rob Holding’s first goal for the club before Jared Bowen equalized for the Hammers on the stroke of halftime.

In a game that could have gone either way, it was Arsenal who got the all-important third goal, and it was a goal made in Brazil. Winger Gabriel Martinelli swung in a delightful ball for his compatriot Gabriel to power a close-range header home.

In the end, it was a comfortable win for Arsenal as West Ham never looked like scoring again. Attentions now turn to another crucial weekend of fixtures with the Gunners hoping to tighten their grip on 4th spot even further.
