Atlas Take Commanding 3-0 Lead in Liga MX Clausura Semi Final

Atlas Look Poised for Liga MX Clausura Final

The first leg of the Liga MX Clausura semi-finals could not have gone any better for Atlas, who dismantled Tigres UANL 3-0 at the Estadio Jalisco.

It means that, barring a heavy defeat in the return fixture on Sunday, Atlas will book their place in the Clausura final.

The Apertura champions dominated possession throughout the contest, but were made to wait until the 40th minute for their breakthrough – Julio Furch netting from the penalty spot after Nahuel Guzmán had brought down Aníbal Chalá in the area.

As expected, the roles were reversed in the second period with Tigres enjoying more of the ball, but they couldn’t force their way back into the game.

And Luis Reyes would make the visitors pay for their profligacy when he fired home in the 60th minute, and any hopes of a resurgence from Tigres were pretty much put to bed when Julián Quiñones hammered home the third on the brink of the final whistle.

Can Tigres turn things around in the second leg on Sunday?
