Brasileiro Serie A Champions Atletico Mineiro Sell Jefferson Savarino

Savarino Switches from Atletico Mineiro to Salt Lake

The defending Brasileiro Serie A champions Atletico Mineiro have made the bold decision to accept an offer for their attacking star Jefferson Savarino.

The 25-year-old, who scored five goals and assisted two others in his side’s run to the title in 2021, will be reunited with his former club Real Salt Lake in the MLS.

Savarino had made three appearances in Atletico’s title defence in 2022, netting a brace in the thrilling 2-2 draw with Coritiba back in April.

The Venezuelan scored 14 times and assisted eight goals in his spell in Mineiro, and will now head to Salt Lake City, where he spent three productive seasons between 2017-19.

“During his time in Brazil over the last couple years, Jefferson has matured as a player and as a person. We expect him to provide even more danger as a playmaking and finishing option for RSL,” their general manager Elliott Fall said.
