Eighteen Shots, Eleven Corners, and No Goals as Zamora Held by Portuguesa in Venezuela

Zamora Frustrated by Portuguesa in Venezuela Primera Division

Copa Libertadores hopefuls Zamora moved into the play-off places in the Venezuela Primera Division with a draw against Portuguesa on Friday, but were left to ponder what might have been in a game that they dominated.

El Blanquinegro missed out on the Fase Final last term, and they are desperate to make up for lost time in 2022.

They’ve lost just one of their opening eleven games of the campaign, but a catalogue of draws – including the latest against the plucky visitors – has prevented Zamora from kicking on and challenging at the top of the table.

They fired in 12 shots and won eight corners in an encounter packed with action on Friday, but neither side could make the breakthrough – Erickson Gallardo, who has netted 42% of Zamora’s goals this term, was just one of the players who had lost their radar.

Zamora will have a chance to get back to winning ways next time out when they travel to take on lowly Deportivo Lara in Gameweek 11.
