Cerro Porteño end Libertad’s winning streak with crushing win

Cerro Porteño 4-0 Libertad

Libertad’s unbeaten run came to an end in the worst way after falling to a 4-0 defeat to their title rivals Cerro Porteño. The defeat meant both teams are now level on points at the top of the table.

Libertad hadn’t tasted defeat for 175 days but it came to a sudden and devastating end in their visit to Cerro Porteño

Cerro Porteño came out to assert their home advantage and went into the half time break winning 2-0 with goals from Claudio Aquino and Sergio Díaz. Libertad tried to get themselves back in the game, but the spaces left in defence left them unprotected. Cerro did not take his foot off the gas and further goals came from Carlos Rolón and Bolivian striker Moreno Martins.

Both teams are now level on 25 points so there is plenty still to play for.
