Copa Argentina: Atlético Tucumán beat Brown de Adrogué 2-0

Atlético Tucumán 2-0 Brown de Adrogué

In the first round of the Copa Argentina Cup, Atlético Tucumán beat Brown de Adrogué 2-0 and will now face Independiente in the next round.

Tucuman went into the match as favourites and, despite sitting last and struggling in the Primera División, showed their strength against the underdogs, Brown de Adrogué.

Brown de Adrogué were not an easy target though as they are currently in third place in the Primera Nacional and fighting for promotion.

Tucumán’s new coach, Lucas Pusineri, decided to rotate the squad for this game after their draw against River Plate last Sunday.

After an exquisite pass from Joaquin Pereiyra, Matías Orihuela scored the first goal for ‘Decano’ in the 41st minute. The second goal was provided by Ciro Rius, who took advantage of Brown’s defensive error and assisted Leonardo Heredía to make it 2-0.

In the next round of 32 teams, Atlético Tucumán will play Independiente de Avellaneda while Brown must now focus on the promotion fight. Their next match is against Ferro next Tuesday.
