Ecuador fancy World Cup progression

A review of Group A in the 2022 World Cup

Ecuador enjoyed a remarkable World Cup qualifying campaign finishing 4th in the South American qualifying table and securing their place at the 2022 finals for the first time since 2014.

As a reward for their efforts, Ecuador was drawn into Group A of the tournament and will play in the first game of the tournament when they lock horns with hosts Qatar.

Drawn alongside the Ecuadorians in Group A are the Netherlands and recently crowned African champion Senegal.

Many believe that the two qualification spots in Group A will be contested between the Dutch, Ecuador, and Senegal.

Ecuador has been handed the perfect opportunity to get their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a victory against the hosts.

Matches against the Dutch and lastly Senegal will determine where they will finish.

If Ecuador are able to progress out of the group they will face either the winner or runner up from Group B. That could be England, Iran, the USA, Wales, Scotland or Ukraine.

Ecuador has never progressed past the last 16. They will be hoping that in Qatar they can recreate history.
