Gabriel Jesus scored four as Manchester City extend lead at the top of the table

Jesus scores four in latest City win

Manchester City took another step towards this year’s Premier League title thanks to a 5-1 win over strugglers Watford. Gabriel Jesus, who last week was heavily linked with a move away from the club, reminded Pep Guardiola and the City hierarchy of what he could do by scoring four goals in the game.

It was the second time in his Manchester City career that the Brazilian has netted four goals in one match.

The win momentarily took City four points clear at the top, which after Liverpool’s victory against Everton was swiftly reduced back to one point.

City know that if they can win all their last five league games the league title will be theirs regardless of what Liverpool do.

Jesus’s fine performance has now given manager Pep Guardiola a problem. With huge fixtures to come against both Real Madrid and Leeds, Jesus who has made a limited amount of starts this season deserves to retain his starting spot.

If Jesus finds himself back on the bench it could be the clearest indicator yet that the forward could be surplus to requirements this summer.
