Imbabura suffer defeat after América de Quito comeback

Ecuadorian Serie B leaders Imbabura lost 2-1 at home to América de Quito to drop to second in the table after a win for Chacaritas moved them into first place.

Imbabura fell to their second defeat of the season as they were unable to hold on to their lead in the match. The team coached by Joel Suqui had a tough defeat at home after a great comeback from America de Quito.

The team from Ibarra went ahead when Alexis Villamil opened the scoring. They were looking comfortable before América found an equaliser in injury time at the end of the first half through Mateos Tello.

América completed the turnaround when Daniel Santamaria found the back of the net in the 69th minute. Despite their best efforts, Imbabura were unable to find an equalising goal and América went away with the three important points.

Chacaritas beat Atlético Santo Domingo 1-0 to go top of the league. Their goal was scored by Jorge Cuesta.
