Argentina: Dangerous dark horses ahead of the 2022 World Cup

Argentina qualified for this year’s World Cup with relative ease and surprisingly aren’t being talked about as one of the favourites. Brazil, France, Spain, England and Germany are all fancied ahead of the Argentines but they bring a squad loaded with talent.

As an attacking force, there is arguably no team that has such an abundance of talent as this Argentina team. Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez would get into the starting lineups of most sides.

Where Argentina have struggled is that with such a wealth of attacking talent they have had a reasonably weak defence.

However, the Argentina defence is much improved.

They have a top class keeper in Emi Martinez, classy left back in Nicolas Tagliafico and in Cristian Romero, a centre back who is beginning to take the Premier League by storm.

Ahead of the tournament, Argentina finds itself in Group C alongside Mexico, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Confidence will be high that they can qualify from that group with ease.

With an improving defence coupled with one of the most explosive attacks in the game, write off Argentina at your peril!
