Pachuca Dominate Club América to Reach Liga MX Clausura Final

Pachuca Down Las Águilas to Reach Clausura Final

Pachuca have overcome the odds to upset Club América and reach the final of the Liga MX Clausura.

Los Tuzos were considered underdogs for the second leg of the tie despite enjoying home advantage at Estadio Hidalgo, but they made light work of such predictions after racing into a 13th minute lead through Romario Ibarra, who applied the finishing touche to Avilés Hurtado’s cross.

With the contest evenly poised at 1-1 from the first leg, Club América knew they weren’t out of it, and they fired in nine shots at goal in the first half alone as they sought to draw level.

But the hosts were not to be outdone, and on the stroke of half time they doubled their advantage on the night – Erick Sánchez trying his luck from long range and finding fortune favored the brave.

The Tanoneta enjoyed 64% possession in the second half, but for all their monopolization of the ball, they couldn’t find a route to goal. And so it was left to Ibarra to settle the contest as he swept home his second, powering Pachuca to the Clausura final against defending champions Atlas.
