Richarlison nets huge goal as Everton boosts survival hopes with a vital win over Chelsea

Richarlison nets vital goal for Everton as they beat Chelsea

Brazilian forward Richarlison continued his recent excellent form with a crucial goal as Premier League basement dwellers Everton beat third-placed Chelsea 1-0.

Although still in the relegation zone, the win has moved Everton to within two points of relegation rivals Leeds and Burnley with the Toffees having played one game less.

In a scrappy but entertaining game, chances were few and far between before Everton were able to open the deadlock just a few minutes into the second half.

Seizing on a rare mistake by Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, the ball broke kindly to Richarlison who made no mistake in slotting home past Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy.

The goal was Richarlison’s 4th in his last five games and his return to form couldn’t have come at a more crucial time.

Everton know they are still firmly in a relegation dog fight but Richarlison’s goal has given them a new lease of life and hope that they will be able to beat the drop.
