Romeo Beckham Debuts in 4-0 Friendly Win for Inter Miami

Pressure is nothing new to Romeo Beckham, having grown up with his father, David Beckham – one of his generation’s most famous soccer players. Romeo, though, is trying to make a name of his own. Having earned a debut appearance at just 19 years old for Inter Miami, it appears he may be on the right track.

Romeo Beckham was subbed in the closing moments of a pre-season friendly win for Inter Miami over Universitarios of Peru. Beckham wore number 37 and played alongside head coach Phil Neville’s son Harry Neville.

It was a big moment for the Beckham family, especially when considering his father, David, co-owns the MLS club. Romeo Beckham posted on Instagram after the match, saying, “First match in front of our fans. Insane”. To which his father commented, “Well done mate”.

Beckham was not the only excited dad after the match as coach Phil Neville’s son played well and scored a goal in the friendly. Humorously though, his dad missed it, saying, “Honestly, I missed the goal; I was talking to the fourth official. Somebody said it was a decent goal.”

After the match, Phil Neville shared details of the progress of the two young players, noting that both had done well, having moved up from the Fort Lauderdale club.

Neville said this about his son: “He’s doing well, he’s working hard, He’s waiting for green card status to become a US citizen. It’s a long process.”

It will be worth watching both youngsters throughout the pre-season to see if their play garners the worth of becoming regulars once the actual season starts. One thing is sure, both players come from good bloodlines, and at a young age, the future is bright.
