Sanchez steps in as Spurs beat Arsenal

Tottenham ran out comfortable winners of the North London Derby beating Arsenal 3-0. The win reignites Spurs’ push for a Champions League place. Although still in 5th, the gap between the teams is now down to just one point.

In a match they needed to win, Tottenham were dealt a significant blow when it was confirmed that star center-back Cristian Romero would be unavailable due to a hip injury.

Davinson Sanchez was called up to replace the influential Argentine and the Colombian didn’t put a foot wrong.

An experienced player, Sanchez has played with promise under Spurs boss Antonio Conte and can consider himself unlucky to have not started more games.

Sanchez who at times can be erratic was a calming influence and was able to successfully shackle the tricky Bukayo Saka. Sanchez even played a part in the build-up to Spurs’ final goal with the Colombian sliding a superb ball into Harry Kane, with the ball eventually finding its way to Heung Min Son who would slam the ball home for Tottenham’s third goal.

With Conte looking to start a major rebuild this summer it could be that Sanchez is a defender who could be on the transfer block. If he continues to put in displays as he did last night, there will be no shortage of suitors.
