Táchira unable to take advantage of La Guaira’s defeat

Tachira lose against Carabobo

Deportivo Táchira lost on their visit to Carabobo to remain one point behind league leaders Deportivo La Guaira, who suffered their first defeat of the season against Caracas.

Táchira had been waiting for a slip-up from La Guaira for such a long time ago and when this finally happened on Saturday, Táchira couldn’t take advantage.

Táchira lost 3-1 at Carabobo, where Colombian striker Kevin Viveros scored a hat-trick. The only goal for Táchira was scored by Edder Farías when it was 1-1.

La Guaira lost 3-2 against Caracas, and were close to a comeback from 3-0 down. Although La Guaira continue to lead the table, their defeat meant Monagas, Zamora and Estudiantes de Mérida moved closer on points.

The next matches see La Guaira host Deportivo Lara, with Táchira playing at home against Zamora. Estudiantes de Mérida visit Portuguesa and Monagas are at Puerto Caballero.
