The Strongest win 1-0 at Club Universitario to move into first

Club Universitario 0-1 The Strongest

The Strongest took advantage of a defeat for Atlético Palmaflor as they moved into first place in Group A with a 1-0 win at Club Universitario.

Despite knowing the importance of the game, The Strongest’s coach, former Argentinian player Cristian Díaz, decided to change his starting 11 because of their upcoming match in the Copa Libertadores. They are due to face Caracas on Wednesday and need to get a win to keep their tournament hopes alive.

The only goal of the game was scored by experienced Colombian striker, Jair Reinoso, thanks to a penalty awarded to the visiting side in the last minute of the first half.

During the second half, Universitario tried to get the equaliser but found it hard to break down the away side’s defence.

The team based in Bolivia’s capital lead the way on 21 points, with Palmaflor in second with 19.
