Tigres and Atlas Earn First Leg Leads in Their Liga MX Clausura Quarter Finals

Tigres and Atlas Earn Upper Hand in Clausura QF Ties

Both Tigres and Atlas have taken huge strides towards the Liga MX Clausura semi-finals after winning the away leg of their respective last eight clashes.

Los Tigres overcame 2021 Torneo Guardianes champions Atlas in the first leg at the Estadio Azteca, with a solitary goal from Jesús Dueñas enough to separate the sides.

There would have been plenty of tension amongst the watching Tigres faithful when Nicolás López was shown a straight red card after 60 minutes, but their team managed to hang on despite mounting pressure from the hosts.

Meanwhile, the Apertura champions Atlas enjoyed a big away win of their own at the Estadio Akron against Guadalajara Chivas.

A closely-contested affair was largely settled by a magic 16-minute spell from Angel Marquez just before half-time. His brace allowed Atlas to take a stranglehold on the tie – what a time to score your first goals of the season!

Cristian Calderon pulled one back for Chivas in the second half, but Atlas will return to the Estadio Jalisco for the second leg full of confidence.
