Novak Djokovic remains world number one in the latest ATP tennis rankings, ahead of Andy Murray, Roger Federer, and Stan Wawrinka.
World number one Djokovic is this week bidding to win a record fourth straight end-of-season title at the ATP World Tour Finals.

The Serb made a winning start to his campaign on Sunday, cruising past Kei Nishikori 6-1 6-1 in 65 minutes at London’s O2 Arena.

All players wore black ribbons on their shirts as a mark of respect to the victims of Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

Roger Federer beat Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-2 in the opening day’s other round-robin match.

“All my heart goes out to the families of the lost ones, it’s really devastating to see those images and that footage,” said Djokovic.

Of his 2015 season, which has seen him win the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open, he added: “Undoubtedly it has been the best season and the best year of my life – I became a father and I got married.

“Those are the kind of trophies and milestones that mean the most to me.”

Speaking before Sunday’s win over Nishikori, the 28-year-old, who went within one match of the calendar Grand Slam, losing to Stan Wawrinka in the French Open final, had said: “I feel like I have found the formula that works for me,” said Djokovic, who has a 78-5 mark on the year. “There is no secret, it’s everything together. I have realised that a holistic approach to tennis and life in general, helps me a lot and gives me the best possible results.

“After 2011 and having an incredible season, a lot of questions were raised as to whether I could do something similar. I have proven that I can do it again, and can do it even better. I feel this season is better than 2011, so having that in the back of my mind gives me a reason to keep on going.

“I am in love with the game. I don’t find it very difficult to go out on the practice courts and prepare in the off-season, set up new goals and get as far as possible.”

Benoit Paire is the only climber in this week’s Top 20.
