Rafael Nadal Vs Juan Carlos Ferrero Monte Carlo Masters 2010

Nadal’s odds suggest that he is going to dominate this match.

The quarterfinal at the Monte Carlo Masters involving Rafael Nadal will see two excellent clay courters go head to head: the former top player in Juan Carlos Ferrero takes on the current king of clay in Nadal.

Ferrero was the undisputed clay court champion for a brief period back in 2003 before Nadal came along and wrestled that mantle away with the irresistible energy and brutal topspin which defines him as one of the greatest players of all time on clay.

Those looking to back Nadal in this match will not find any reason to when the odds are considered as the best price out there in the straight up market is -1400 (1/14) with Boylesports.  Ferrero backers could look at bwin.com where he is priced at +1000 (10/1), odds long enough to take a stab at as Ferrero does have recent clay court titles and he must be acknowledged as at least a minor threat to Nadal.

But if Nadal had lost some of his clay-court aura after his French Open defeat last year he’s gone some way to re-establishing that invincibility so far this week. The five-time Monte-Carlo champion is 24-2 in games played in Monte Carlo this week and it almost feels like things are back to normal.  Ferrero did win their last match-up but Nadal had a foot injury at the time and that’s the main reason why the match resulted as it did.

It feels safe to say that Nadal is going to win this match so if you are looking to back him, then pound him to win in precisely straight sets with Boylesports at -400 (1/4) as Nadal has been dominant enough to justify odds that short.
