Roger Federer Loss Leads To French Open Price Drifting

Roger Federer loses to unheralded Ernests Gulbis in the second round of the Rome Masters.

Roger Federer’s loss to Ernests Gulbis at the 2010 Rome Masters in the second round was a surprise, but really these losses by Fed are becoming less and less surprising.  Ernests Gulbis joins Tomas Berdych, Marcos Baghdatis, Robin Soderling, Nikolay Davydenko, and Julien Benneteau as players who have scored first time victories over the Swiss Maestro in the last 6 months.

What is no surprise is that Federer’s price for the 2010 French Open has drifted with the loss to Gulbis.

Gulbis defeated Federer 2-6 6-1 7-5 and those looking to back Federer to win in Paris in May/June of 2010 can head over to Bodog where he can be backed at a best price +333 (10/3) to win the 2010 French Open (MAXIMUMBONUS promotion code).

Federer is NOT on good form lately however and he’s a really tricky bet.  He clearly plays his best tennis at the Grand Slams but then the French Open is his worst slam when the history is taken into consideration.  True, he is the defending champion but that doesn’t mean he’s going to repeat and you can expect his price to drift further as the clay court season progresses.

Those looking to bet right now would be smart to keep their money on Juan Martin Del Potro (semifinalist 2009; l. to Federer in 5 sets) and Rafael Nadal (11/20), although it is getting increasing difficult to find a good price on the latter player.
