Antunes and Silva Take Silver In Ostrava

They were that close.

On Sunday, Brazilians Talita Antunes and Rebecca Silva fell to Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillman in the title match of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Antunes and Silva played strongly in the tournament, putting together a nice string of wins, including a resounding, straight-sets defeat of Switzerland’s Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Joana Heidrich to advance to the final.

Unfortunately for the Brazilians, they had no answer for Tillman. The German was brilliant in Sunday’s matchup, scoring 18 points and recording just two errors for an efficiency rating of 35.56%. Silva also played uncharacteristically sloppy, racking up nine errors in just two sets, which the Germans won 18-21, 16-21.

The next Elite 16 event will be held from 1st of June to the 5th of June in Jurmala, Latvia, and will be broadcast on VBTV. Antunes and Silva are not scheduled to compete in the tournament.
