Men’s Play Underway In Ostrava

Play is underway in the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Let’s see how the men’s side is going.

Brazil’s Álvaro Filho and Evandro Gonçalves notched an impressive 2-0 (21-12, 21-17) victory over Christiaan Varenhorst and Steven van de Velde of the Netherlands. Gonçalves was particularly impressive in the match, racking up 15 attack points, 4 block points, and 4 serve points.

Mexico’s Juan Virgen and Miguel Sarabia did not fare quite so well in their first-round matchup against Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava. The Italians won a tightly contested first set, then dominated the Mexican squad in the second, handing Virgen and Sarabia a 0-2 (18-21, 11-21) loss. Virgen committed 12 errors in the match for an efficiency of -12.50%.

The Ostravia tournament will continue throughout the week with gold medal matches on Sunday, May 29th. Volleyball fans can watch live matches on VBTV.
