Kevin Pietersen Angry And Hurt Following England Snub

Kevin Pietersen is set to fulfill his obligations for Sunrisers Hyderabad after being told he is not part of England’s plans.

Pietersen said he was left “angry and hurt” after being told he will not be considered for selection by England.

Earlier this year, incoming England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Colin Graves told Pietersen that, if he found a County Championship side to play for this year and scored plenty of runs, he could be handed an England recall, but that has not been the case.

Pietersen, who this week made an unbeaten 355 for Surrey against Leicestershire, had talks with the new director of cricket, Andrew Strauss, when he was told he was not required.

“I just find it incredibly deceitful what has happened to me,” Pietersen wrote in the Daily Telegraph.

“I am angry and hurt but right now there is nothing I can do about it.”

The 34-year-old was told his international career was over 15 months, only for Graves to seemingly hand him an olive branch.

“I have done everything I can,” added Pietersen.

“Was I lied to by the chairman? Only he can answer that. Tom Harrison and Andrew Strauss have said that all three of them are united in this decision, so I don’t know what to think.

“What has happened since Colin told me if I scored county runs I would be available for selection?”
