Concacaf Champions League Attendance Record Set to Be Broken at Seattle vs Pumas Final

Record crowd of 67,000 to Watch CCL Final in Seattle

The attendance record for a Concacaf Champions League Game is set to be broken on Wednesday when Liga MX side Pumas UNAM travel to Seattle to take on the Sounders.

More than 67,000 are expected to cram into Seattle’s Lumen Field for the contest, which beats the previous high of 66,208 set by Club América in their 2015 semi-final against Herediano at the Estadio Azteca.

The two teams are locked at 2-2 after the first leg in Mexico City, and the Sounders will be hoping to create history on home soil – only two MLS teams have ever won the CCL Champions League dating back to the competition’s foundation in 1962.

Mexicans, of course, have a fine record in the tournament, and it’s now 17 years since the last time that a team from Liga MX didn’t lift the trophy. The Pumas have won the CCL on three occasions, although their last final – back in 2005 – saw them lose 2-3 on aggregate to Costa Rican outfit Saprissa.
