Sri Lanka vs Pakistan ODI Series Preview and Live Stream – Irfan returns for Pakistan

Pakistan have named two uncapped players to their One Day International squad for their upcoming five match series against Sri Lanka.

 

Sri Lanka host Pakistan in a five game ODI series once their Test matches have been completed with the first one-dayer taking place at in Dambulla on Saturday, July 11.

All-rounder Bilal Asif and batsman Mukhtar Ahmed are the two uncapped players handed a chance in Sri Lanka, while fast bowler Mohammad Irfan has earned a recall.

Irfan has recovered from a stress fracture of his pelvis he picked up during the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and will be looking at this series to gain his full match fitness back.

Ehsan Adil and Rahat have also been included in the 16-man squad meaning Hammad Azam, Mohammad Sami and Junaid Khan are the players not selected despite being involved in their home series against Zimbabwe, while Haris Sohail and Wahab Riaz are out through injury.

After naming the squad, Pakistan’s chief selector Haroon Rashid admitted Wahab had a fractured knuckle, he said: “It is hoped that he recovers well in time to be available for the last two ODIs, and if he is declared fit by the medical panel, the selection committee might consider sending him over depending on the situation of the series after consulting the team management.”

One player named in Pakistan’s ODI squad is Mohammad Hafeez but it is still unsure whether he will be allowed to feature after his bowling action is again under suspicion.

Hafeez will undergo an official test on his bowling action on Monday, July 6 in Chennai. The all-rounder was reported to the ICC on June 21 about his action and could face a one-year ban from the game if it is found that his elbow flex is over the permissible 15-degree limit – This is second time in two years his action has been called illegal.
