Baltimore Ravens Sign Linebacker Vince Biegel

Baltimore Ravens Sign Linebacker Vince Biegel

Vince Biegel is getting another chance

On Monday, the Baltimore Ravens announced that they signed the veteran linebacker to a one-year deal. Biegel is a five-year veteran of the league and is capable of playing both the inside and outside linebacker positions. He’ll provide badly needed support to a Ravens linebacker corps hobbled by injuries and free agency.

Though the benefits are obvious, the signing is not without some risk. After a career-best 2019 season during which he started 10 games and recorded 59 tackles for the Miami Dolphins, Biegel tore his achilles during the following preseason and spent the entire 2020 campaign on injured reserve. Biegel returned to the Dolphins in 2021, but appeared in just five games, making little impact.

Biegel’s torn achilles wasn’t his first injury either. A foot injury forced him to miss the start of his rookie season in Green Bay. Two data points don’t make a trend, but they may make Ravens fans sweat a bit as the team prepares for the 2022 season.
