Deebo Samuel Situation Worsens In San Francisco

I think we all saw this one coming.

On Monday, the NFL Network reported that wide receiver Deebo Samuel has declined to participate in voluntary workouts with the San Francisco 49ers. Samuel expressed his discontent with the organisation ahead of the 2022 draft. However, the 49ers have yet to receive a worthy trade offer for the wide receiver, and he remains on the roster.

Samuel is still on his rookie contract and is likely trying to negotiate a salary bump ahead of the 2022 season. Looking at Samuel’s numbers, you can’t really blame him. Just three years into his NFL career, Samuel has already established himself as a rising star at the receiver position. In 2021, he caught 77 passes and notched 1,405 receiving yards. He also scored six touchdowns.

With the 49ers’ ongoing quarterback controversy between Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, the team doesn’t need additional distractions heading into training camp. San Francisco fans surely hope that the team will pay Samuel to his satisfaction and all sides can move on to better things.
