Raiders’ President’s Firing Allegedly Retaliatory

Less than a year after Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden resigned after homophobic and misogynistic comments of his were revealed, the organization finds itself mired in controversy once again.

On Friday, in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, former Raiders team president Dan Ventrelle claimed he was fired by owner Mark Davis for informing the NFL that Davis was ignoring a hostile work environment within the organisation.

“(Davis) did not demonstrate the warranted level of concern,” said Ventrelle. “Given this, I informed the NFL of these issues and of Mark’s unacceptable response. Soon thereafter, I was fired in retaliation for raising these concerns.”

While Ventrelle did not elaborate on how the Raiders’ work environment was hostile, he said he reported the team to league officials to “protect the organisation and its female employees.”

Davis declined to comment on Ventrelle’s allegations. The NFL announced that they take the allegations seriously, and are looking into them.
