Chase Elliott wins the 2022 DuraMAX Drydene 400

Chase Elliott wins in Dover

Chase Elliott extended his lead in the 2022 Nascar Cup Series after a fantastic win at Dover Motor Speedway in a race that was delayed for Monday due to weather conditions. He led in 53 out of 400 laps in a competition that was slowed down a total of 12 times for caution periods.

This was his first victory of the season and, respectively, his first podium as well. Elliott has been quite consistent over the opening 11 races as he has managed to wrap up eight top 10 finishes so far. The 26-year-old is eager to repeat his triumph from 2020 when he won his maiden NASCAR Cup Series title ahead of Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.

Elliott pulled away from his closest competitors in this year’s NASCAR Cup Series due to the fact that Ryan Blaney and William Byron finished outside the top 20 in Dover. This was a second win in a row for Chevrolet and seventh in a total for the season, helping the team extend their lead in the manufacturers’ overall standings. They are now with 411 points, while Toyota and Ford trail back with 374 points and 366 points, respectively.
