Anders Lind has become the latest recipient of the ‘Nothing is Impossible’ award.
He received the award at the Star Award Gala, which is an annual event held to celebrate outstanding achievements in Danish sports.
Part of the event recognizes athletes who have achieved excellent results and defied the odds despite significant challenges during the year.
Lind’s story was perfect for a nomination in this award category.
Lind, a Team Denmark table tennis player, was involved in a terrible car accident in March last year that left him bedridden.
He sustained fractures on two vertebrae, with doctors uncertain if he would ever walk again.
Due to the persistence of the 22-year-old athlete, he returned to the gym three months later after intense rehabilitation, which included having to wear a corset.
Call up to the national team
With the tremendous progress made during his rehabilitation, Lind was rewarded with a call up to the
Denmark national team only six months after the accident.
In September, the team came third at the 2021 European Table Tennis Championships, losing to the would-be champions Germany.
Team Denmark will be competing later this year at the World Team Championship, which is hosted in Chengdu.
The ‘Nothing is Impossible’ award category saw the Denmark football national team nominated for reaching the semi-finals of the Euro 2020 after a turbulent campaign.
Other notable nominations included Danish handball player Mathias Gidsel, who won Olympic gold and gave a stellar performance at the World Championships.
Lind is now preparing for this year’s championship, which will take place in Romania in September 2022.
