Brazilian freestyler Schneider commits to CSU Bakersfield

Rising Brazilian tanker Arthur Schneider announced on Monday that he will be joining the California State University Bakersfield swim team for the upcoming season.

Schneider, who hails from Porto Alegre, Brazil, said taking his talents to the United States and attending CSUB made more sense to his academic and athletic development.

“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at CSU Bakersfield. As a person who always cherished both intellectual and athletic development, CSUB seemed like the best fit for me,” Schneider said.

At the conference level, the Brazilian freestyler is expected to bolster CSUB men’s swimming team. He last suited up for Gremio Nautico Uniao at the 2020 Brazil Trophy tournament wherein he posted best times in the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 800 freestyle events.

CSUB settled for a lackluster sixth-place finish in the 2022 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships despite a silver medal performance from Ryan Brimer in the 200 freestyle event.
