The South American Youth Games, which begin in nine days in Rosario, Argentina, will kick off the continent’s schedule of sporting mega-events.
The Games will take place from April 28 to May 8 in Rosario, roughly 280 kilometers from Buenos Aires, and will have a significant educational and cultural component, in addition to the sporting program. As a result, the Games are expected to have a significant social, sporting, economic, and cultural impact on the host city and country.
More than 2,000 athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 will compete in 26 sports, most of which are part of the Olympic program, representing the 15 countries of the South American Sports Organisation. In addition, beach handball and indoor soccer contests will also be held. The event is scheduled to go forward after two years of uncertainty due to the pandemic, which caused the cancellation and postponement of sporting events across the globe.
