World Table Tennis (WTT) has released a schedule of activities for the first WTT Grand Smash this year.
Among the important announcements is that Asia has been chosen to host the event.
Last year, the Grand Smash was postponed until this year, and according to WTT, it will be held from March 7 to 20.
WTT, which is the business and events arm of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), was established in 2019 to focus on marketing the game.
The organization has changed the face of professional table tennis, with events springing up to showcase its rich values and entertain fans.
According to WTT director and ITTF chief executive Steve Dainton, the first stage of the calendar year has been released.
Dainton stated that although the pandemic is not yet over, our athletes are working and prepping hard to keep playing and to keep the international event scene alive.
Tournaments to be held in Qatar in 2022
After the Grand Smash has been played, the next tournament will be in Doha, Qatar.
The Qatari capital will host the first WTT Contender tournament, which will take place from February 27 to March 5.
Doha will also host a Contender from March 18 to 24 and a Star Contender from March 25 to 31.

The media group will cover all table tennis events for Southeast Asia region.
Eclat has secured exclusive media rights for all the major table tennis events this year – they will be shown on its channel SPOTV.
