Belgrano’s late goal against Deportivo Riestra keeps them top

Belgrano 2-1 Deportivo Riestra

Belgrano secured a 2-1 win against Deportivo Riestra to keep them top of Primera Nacional. The team from the city of Córdoba scored late in the game to maintain their four point lead over San Martín in second place.

The first half was goalless with both teams standing strong defensively. The game burst into life just before 60 minutes, when Belgrano’s attacking midfielder, Fabian Bordagaray, delivered a perfect cross that Pablo Vegetti converted to give them the lead.

Belgrano’s lead was short-lived when Gustavo Fernández scored the equaliser in the 69th minute. A key substitution in the 80th minute changed the result as Belgrano’s striker, Ulises Sanchez, came from the bench and scored a perfect free kick with his first touch of the ball.

It is an important win for Belgrano which keeps them ahead of the chasing pack. They have a week off from this weekend’s round of matches before they visit Dálmine on 30 April.
