Draw for 2022 FIFA World Cup

The draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has been made and the representatives from Latin America now know who they’ll be facing in the group stage.

Brazil, currently ranked number one in the FIFA World Rankings, have been drawn in Group G alongside Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.

Argentina have been paired with Mexico in Group C along with Saudi Arabia and Poland.

Ecuador have been drawn in Group A with the tournament hosts Qatar. They will also face games against Senegal and the Netherlands.

Uruguay are in Group H with Portugal, Ghana and South Korea.

Peru and Costa Rica were drawn in Groups D and E respectively, but they must first negotiate intercontinental playoff matches before guaranteeing their place in the competition. Peru face UAE or Australia while Costa Rica play New Zealand. The games are scheduled for June.

The tournament will take place between 21 November and 18 December, and it is the first time that the World Cup is being held in the Middle East.
