Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille advanced to the last four of the Europa Conference League

Marseille advanced to last four of Conference League

Jorge Sampaoli burst into international fame during the 2014 World Cup when he was manager of the Chilean national team. A bristling bustling bundle of energy Sampaoli’s passion and high pressing tactics won fans all over the world.

Since he guided Chile to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup and guided them to the 2015 Copa America title it has been a rough road for Sampaoli who over recent years has bounced from job to job. His recent list of clubs includes Sevilla, Santos, and Atletico Minerio.

At the end of the 2020 – 2021 season, it was announced that Sampaoli was returning to Europe to take control of Marseille. In what at times has been an up and down season Marseille find themselves second in the Ligue 1 title and into the last four of the new Europa Conference League.

Awaiting Sampaoli and his men in the semi-finals are Dutch side Feyenoord. Despite that contest looking like a tight one on paper, it will be Marseille who will be the favorite to advance. Sampaoli is yet to win silverware when managing in Europe, the Conference League gives him a great chance of changing that record.
