Sport Huancayo held by San Martín in Primera División

League leaders Sport Huancayo were unable to pull away at the top of the Primera División after coming away with a 1-1 draw at league strugglers San Martín.

Huancayo closest challengers in the league, Binacional and Alianza Atlético both picked up wins which means that all three teams are now level on 22 points each.

The visiting side took the lead thanks to a goal scored by Ronal Huaccha in the 16th minute. San Martín managed to get an equaliser just before half time when Alexis Rojas found the back of the net.

In the second half, San Martín’s physical game prevailed, and they were able to hold on for a draw. It was a vital point for them as they fight to avoid relegation.

Huancayo will be disappointed with the draw as it meant that they missed out on the chance to be the clear leader at the top of the table. However they do have games in hand on the teams behind them.

In their next match, Huancayo will host César Vallejo, Binacional will visit Sporting Cristal and Alianza Atlético welcome Ayacucho.
