Tigre reach first place with a 2-0 win over Rosario Central

Tigre reached first place in Zone B after winning 2-0 against Rosario Central in the first phase of the Copa de La Liga.

Sunday’s closing game was the perfect night for the team coached by Diego Martinez and positions them as leaders of Zone B after beating the ‘Canallas’.

Martinez’s team put in a solid performance and gained a key achievement by reaching first place above Boca and Estudiantes de la Plata. The three teams have 15 points from eight games and maintain the positions that allow them to qualify for the next round.

The three points were obtained due to Tigre’s strong defensive tactics and attacking pressure. A clean sheet during the first half was the perfect foundation for Tigre, and they took the lead after half time when they were awarded a penalty following a handball by Central’s center back Javier Báez. Argentinian striker Pablo Magnín hit the net in the 48th minute and Lucas Blondel scored in the last 10 minutes of the game to secure the victory.

Tigre will visit Independiente in their next match and Rosario will try to recover from this defeat against Colón de Santa Fé.
