Clubs line up to sign Darwin Nunez but Manchester City is not an option

Race for Nunez signature hots up

Darwin Nunez netted his 32nd goal of the season as Benfica played out an admirable 3-3 draw in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool. Nunez who scored in both legs showed why he will be one of the most sought-after players this summer.

To nobody’s surprise, the majority of Europe’s finest clubs all have the Uruguayan on their shortlists. However, recent stories have indicated that despite Manchester City holding an interest in Nunez, it is a move that reportedly the Uruguayan doesn’t favor.

A string of Premier League clubs which includes Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been linked with the star frontman, and these clubs despite not being as successful or strong as Manchester City in recent seasons are supposedly the front runners for Nunez’s signature.

According to reports, Nunez fears that a move to City might not suit his style of play or due to the strength of City’s squad he might get limited minutes.

Pep Guardiola has already stated that a striker will be a top priority for City and if Nunez is off the table it remains to be seen whether City will pursue a move for either Erling Haaland or Harry Kane.
