Rodríguez And Navas Claim Silver Medal In La Paz

On Sunday, Puerto Ricans Allanis Rodríguez and Allanis Navas claimed silver medals at the La Paz Beach Volleyball Tournament in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

The Puerto Rican duo were brilliant in the La Paz tournament. In the semifinals, the pair defeated Atenas Gutierrez and María Quintero of Mexico in straight sets 21-19, 21-14. On the opposite side of the bracket, in a battle of American squads, Kaitlyn Malaney and Carley Can defeated Megan Gebhard and Savannah Simo 26-24, 21-19 to set up the gold medal matchup.

The title match was tightly contested, but Rodríguez and Navas were ultimately defeated 18-21, 23-21, 15-8. Still, their second-place finish was the best of any Puerto Rican squad during the 2022 NORCECA tour.

Gebhard and Simo also defeated Gutierrez and Quintero 19-21, 21-19, 15-11 to win the bronze medal.

The NORCECA tour will be back in action on July 22nd in Belize. Volleyball fans can keep up with all the action on the official tour website.
