Previewing the Womens’ Volleyball World Cup

The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in 2022 will be the tournament’s nineteenth edition.

It will also be the tournament’s first-ever shared hosting, with the Netherlands and Poland sharing hosting duties. We currently have three confirmed host cities in the Netherlands, while news on the Polish host cities is still pending. The tournament will run from September 23 to October 15, 2022, with the final on October 15, 2022.

Serbia, who won their first-ever championship in 2018, will attempt to defend their title, a feat accomplished before by the Soviet Union, Japan, China, Cuba, and Russia, who all won back-to-back gold medals.

Brazil has yet to win this tournament, but they have qualified for three of the last seven finals, winning silver in all three, and have qualified for the final four in five of the previous season’s tournaments, adding a bronze in 2021, so they could be a threat. Could this year be Sheila Castro‘s team’s chance?
